There are 33 multiple choice questions on the permit test. You need to get at least 81% in order to pass. Remember, You are NOT allowed to use the driver’s handbook during your permit test. You are being tested on your ability to recall the rules of the road. Prepare yourself before you go in and you will see that you can do well without the manual.
I failed my Montana permit test, what should I do?
I passed my Montana permit test! Now what?
If you are over 18 years old, you must hold your learner’s permit for at least 6 months and complete 50 hours of supervised driving, 10 of which must be done at night.
If you are under 18 years old, you must hold on to your permit for at least 6 months. During that time you should get 50 hours of supervised driving, 10 of which must be done at night. You may not drive with more than one unrelated passenger under 18 for the first 6 months. For the second six months, you may not have more than 3 unrelated passengers under 18 with you. You also cannot drive between the hours of 11 pm and 5 am.
