If you are under 18 years old, you must hold your permit for at least 6 months and get behind the wheel practice. The two options for behind the wheel training are:

  • Take an approved driver’s education course and 50 hours of supervised driving
  • 100 hours of supervised driving

After getting your learner’s permit, if you’re 18 or older, you can apply for your road test when you’re ready. If you are under 18, you must wait at least 6 months.

During this time period, teens under 18 must either get 50 hours of supervised driving and take an approved driver’s ed course or 100 hours of supervised driving.
