How do I pass the Virginia permit test?
To pass your Virginia permit test, you are expected to know Virginia traffic laws, road signs, and rules for safe driving. All material will be taken from the Virginia Driver’s License manual, which is what our FREE DMV practice test questions are based on. Subjects will cover sharing the road, meaning of road signs, navigating Intersections, speeding consequences, drinking and driving laws.

There are 35 multiple choice questions on the permit test. You need to get at least 85% in order to pass. Remember, You are NOT allowed to use the driver’s handbook during your permit test. If you failed your written test, you won’t be given a permit.You must wait at least 15 days before taking it again. If you fail 3 times, you will have to take the classroom part of driver’s education again.

If you are under 19 years old, you will have to hold your permit for at least 9 months. You will have to take driver’s education and get at least 45 hours of behind the wheel training.

When can I take my road test?
After getting your learner’s permit, you must wait at least 60 days if you are 19 years old or older before you could take your road test. If you are under 19, you must wait at least 9 months.

During this time period, teens under 19 must complete driver’s education and get at least 45 hours of behind the wheel training. If you’re 19 or older and have proven that you have had driver’s education, you may apply for your license immediately.
