As license offices across the state begin reopening to the public, the Department of Revenue is encouraging Missourians to renew their vehicle registrations earlier in the month. The Department anticipates heavier than usual traffic at the end of May. Customers are also encouraged to consider renewing their vehicle registrations online if they are able to do so.

In response to COVID-19, the Department previously granted an automatic two-month extension to vehicle owners with registrations (license plates) expiring in the months of March and April. Vehicle owners with license plates that expired in March 2020 have until May 31, 2020, to visit a license office to renew their license plates without paying a late penalty. Similarly, vehicle owners with license plates that expired in April 2020 have until June 30, 2020, to visit a license office to renew without paying a late penalty.
